How should the camera be positioned? (HDS)
The camera assembly is mounted on the scanner with two screws and positioned in the middle of the mount. Although this mount offers the possibility to move the whole assembly left or right by using other fixation screws, this is rarely necessary. The provided helicoid ring should give enough margin for zooming in/out as desired.
One use case where this is needed, is when capturing full frame 8mm film at high resolution: you will need to move the camera further away from the film by mounting the assembly further right on the panel of the scanner. Then zoom and focus.
The 4K HDS+ is provided with two helicoid rings to fit between the lens and the camera. In almost all cases, the bigger ring should be used. The only set-up where you need the thinner ring is when capturing 16mm, if you want to fit the full photogram vertically in a HD frame. It is not possible to zoom out enough with the other ring.
