Why is my AVI file not recognised by another software?
The AVI files produced by the capture Cine2Digits store the images one by one as they are recorded from the scanner. As the software cannot know in advance how many images there will be, it cannot write this information at the beginning of the file, which is something that is expected for common AVI files. Some software require this index. The media player VLC, for instance, can read them without issue, but will mention that there is no index or that is is broken when you open the AVI file. You can just ignore the message and “Play as is”.
If you have an issue opening it in your editing software, such as DaVinci Resolve, first transcode the AVI to another format, like a ProRes. You can use FF Transcode for this.
